Creative Industries Federation Goes Global - Tom Fletcher to chair new International Advisory Counci
Diplomat Tom Fletcher will chair the Federation’s new International Advisory Council when it launches this spring.

The aim of the council is to promote and underpin the future growth and success of the UK’s arts, creative industries and cultural education. The work will include establishing an international perspective on best practice, analysing the UK’s competitive position internationally, examining the case for soft power and growing our unique network.

Tom, a visiting professor at New York University, was a foreign policy adviser to three prime ministers and British ambassador to Beirut 2011-2015. As the global strategy director for the Global Business Coalition for Education, he is leading an initiative to get 1 million Syrians back to school. He blogs as 'The Naked Diplomat' and his book on power in the digital age is published in the spring.

Tom said today: "I am thrilled to be part of the Federation's work. This is Britain's most dynamic and magnetic sector - we are a creative industries superpower. I want to help show the world what the UK has to offer, and support our brilliant creative industries in building new partnerships, finding new markets and generating jobs and growth."
